Brand Discovery
Your business's visual direction, written down.
A guided process that ends with a Brand Book and a Mood Board — a clear direction for how your business looks, sounds and feels. You can use them on your own, or carry on with me from there.
Many business owners know exactly what they do and who they do it for. Saying what the business should look like is harder.
It’s rarely something you stop to consider as a whole — and so the visual identity tends to come together piece by piece. One colour from Canva, another from the logo, a third from whatever happened to look good on social media.
None of it is necessarily wrong. Together it just doesn’t tell one story yet.
Brand Discovery helps you find a direction, so that visual choices no longer have to be made by chance.
You work through a guided questionnaire that asks you to pause over your business, your clients, your brand’s character, its tone of voice and your visual preferences. You don’t need to know any design or branding terminology — you answer in your own words and with your instinct.
From your answers I build a Mood Board that shows the direction, and a Brand Book that turns it into something clear and usable.
Once they’re ready, you have something to return to whenever you make new choices for your website, social media, marketing or anything else your business puts out.
What you get
- the guided Brand Discovery questionnaire · around 30–45 minutes to complete
- a Mood Board that shows your business’s visual direction

- finished material you can use yourself or hand to any designer

How it works
You answer. I put it together.
01
You get your own link
The Brand Discovery questionnaire opens from a personal link. You can take a break and continue later on the same device.
02
You answer unhurried
23 questions about your business, your clients and how your brand should feel — and a short question at the end about the questionnaire itself. Set aside 30–45 minutes, more if a question gives you pause.
03
I put the material together
I read your answers and build the Mood Board and Brand Book from them within 7 working days.
04
The material is yours
You receive it as PDFs. Use it in your marketing, on your website, on social media, in presentations and in print — or as a brief for a future designer.
Good to know
This does not include logo design
Brand Discovery sets out the visual direction. It does not include designing a logo or any other original graphic mark, unless separately agreed.
Logo ideas may appear on the Mood Board, but they are not logo design and are not ready to be used.
If you want a logo as well, that's a separate piece of work — tell me and I'll prepare a separate quote.
The Mood Board is a working tool
The Brand Book is yours: you may use it freely in your own business and pass it to your own designers and printers.
The Mood Board is a different matter. It may contain third-party photographs that are not licensed for publication. It is used to guide design work and within your business — it isn't published as it stands and isn't used as marketing material.
The typefaces recommended in the Brand Book require your own licence. I'll tell you what's needed, but I don't acquire licences on your behalf.
One round of revisions
Once you have the Brand Book and the Mood Board, you go through them and tell me what doesn't land. I make one round of revisions on that basis.
Any changes after that are agreed and priced separately.
Your answers are the raw material
The result comes from what you tell me. The more honestly and precisely you answer, the more accurately the material will land.
The questionnaire saves incomplete answers in your own browser, so you can take a break. Do complete it on the same device and browser, though — answers don't follow you from one device to another.
If you later decide to continue with me into a website project, the price of Brand Discovery is credited against the Evolving Web set-up fee. The credit is valid for six months from the delivery of the material and applies to at most one previously purchased service.
Direction first. A website after — or not at all.
Brand Discovery is a service in its own right. If a website isn't on the cards, you still get material that makes your business look consistent everywhere it appears.
